      My internship experience with Innoventor is the best I have ever had. There were so many things I was able to learn during my stay, the first of which was about my job. During my co-op I was given the opportunity to work in the National Instruments group within Innoventor. As a hopeful electrical engineer, I had not seen much in terms of visual programming, so using Labview was a completely new experience for me. Despite this lack of experience, over time I gained familiarity with some of Labview’s features and functionality. In the beginning, I learned about the software validation process including the documentation and software execution. Although much of my time involved learning different aspects of software, I did get a chance to get my hands on some hardware. Some of that included some various data acquisition tasks, but for others I was able to build the hardware. The one I’m most proud of is the working 64 channel microphone box. It was with this project that I realized the importance of hardware design.

      The one thing that I enjoyed the most about my job was that with every new project I was shown the top level design for my tasks. This allowed me to find a solution myself rather than being told exactly what to do. It was a great test for my problem solving skills, which is what engineering is all about. It was challenging, but it gave me the opportunity to see what worked and what did not.

      I have found Innoventor to be unlike any other company I have worked for. What sets them apart is the people and culture found at Innoventor. My coworkers were amazingly technical, patient, and diverse. Whenever I had questions, they always willing to help and listen. In addition, I found that their diverse backgrounds always gave me something new to learn. Even on my first day I couldn’t help, but note the amount of professionalism that everyone had and the feeling of family. Although I was just an intern around for the summer, I always felt like I was part of the Innoventor family and team. I also admire Innoventor’s strong drive to give back to the community. I don’t know of many companies that really do give back, but now I know of one.

      I am thrilled to have been given the chance to work with everyone at Innoventor. It has been an amazing experience, and I have learned a great deal. I cannot compare my time with Innoventor to anything else because nothing even comes close. Innoventor has given so much to me, and I hope I have given as much if not more in return.
