Boeing Delta IV Rocket Helium Leak Test System (LTS)
By designing a one-of-a-kind automated Helium Leak Test System,
Innoventor was able to reduce what was a 16 to 20 hour test cycle to less than one hour. Boeing's production facility in Decatur, Alabama needed this innovative LTS system to perform low and high pressure leak testing of the Delta IV Upper Stage Propulsion System.
The LTS tests 110 different locations on the rocket propulsion system. Using a dual vacuum system design and a Varian mass spectrometer, it can measure individual helium leaks in 15 to 20 seconds. It is PLC driven with analog and digital I/O.
The LTS was delivered 6 weeks ahead of schedule and on budget.
